Developing a Shared Vision

What is Visioning? Visioning is a process of working from individual→ small group→ large group to create a shared vision for science learning and performance.

Why do we use Visioning? Starting work with any group coming together for the first time should begin with visioning. This allows…

  • individuals to reflect on their own vision for science learning and performance

  • the group to work toward building a shared vision to anchor priorities and tradeoffs to as work develops

  • many partners to be involved in understanding and setting the priorities and values of our community.

The power of a common vision is in its shared ownership. Because the students and adults that are part of any community is dynamic, it is important to revisit a group’s vision frequently.
